Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September the 21st of September 1983 in Worthington Ohio is an American actor. Maggie Grace is most well-known for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills and Kim Mills on ABC's Lost TV show. Originating from Worthington Ohio she dropped out of high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. Though she struggled financially and in the beginning, she made her acting debut in the role of Rachel's Room's main character. The television film Murder in Greenwich, in which she played a 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford was the lead actor in Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004 she received the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace quit the show in 2005 to focus on the role of a greater part in film, appearing opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised her role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role on Lost for two more episodes, which included the series final. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in Californianation, the 6th season. She plays Faith who's both a star-gazer and socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager her career began in small roles for her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko with her twin brother. She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim in both of her roles as a lead character of Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), the erotic drama about romance as well as Sherrybaby (2006). She was also nominated for her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. After several commercially successful films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In 2009, she was nominated for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mom on screen in Crazy Heart. In the following years she appeared in comedy and dramatic films: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Alongside her work as a Secret Service agent, she also appeared in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). One of her most recent roles were the protagonist The Kindergarten Teacher The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
